Exciting news for Purnia! The long-awaited Purnia Airport is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15th September. This event marks the realization of a promise made back in 2015, bringing joy to the people of Purnia and the Seemanchal region.

Before the big day, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will visit the airport on 11th September to review the facilities and meet with officials. For now, entry to the airport is restricted for safety reasons, and the media won’t be allowed inside during this period.

The airport boasts a remarkable 9,000-meter long runway, making it the longest in Bihar. Initially, it will operate with temporary facilities, but plans are in place for a full expansion with an investment of around ₹400 crore in the future.

On the inauguration day, the first flight by Star Air will head to Ahmedabad. Indigo Airlines is also planning to start operations. This new airport is expected to serve not only Purnia but also nearby areas in West Bengal and even Nepal.

Purnia is already a hub for medical, education, and automobile industries. With the airport opening, it’s expected to boost trade, education, and tourism, leading to significant economic growth in the region.
