Raghav Jhunjhunwala from Muzaffarpur has made Bihar proud by securing the All India Rank (AIR) 4 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. The results were announced on March 6, 2026, and Raghav’s success story is inspiring many across the state. Despite losing his father at a very young age, he did not let the difficult circumstances break his spirit. Raised by his mother Anju Devi at his maternal grandfather’s home, Raghav worked hard to achieve this milestone in his third attempt.
Raghav’s Journey and Family Struggle
Raghav belongs to the Pankaj Market area of Muzaffarpur. His father, the late Naveen Jhunjhunwala, passed away when Raghav was just a child. Since then, his mother took the responsibility of raising him. He spent most of his childhood and study years at his Nana’s house. This was his third attempt at the UPSC exam. In 2024, he had reached the interview stage but missed the final list. He kept his patience and improved his preparation to secure a top 5 rank this year.
Academic Excellence from School to College
Raghav has always been a brilliant student. In 2019, he was the Bihar State Topper in Class 12 (CBSE) from G.D. Mother International School. Later, he went to Delhi for higher studies and graduated in B.A. (Hons) Economics from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in 2022. He was also awarded the Charat Ram Gold Medal for his academic excellence during his college days.
