What’s inside:

This article talks about the approval of the doubling project for the Ara-Sasaram railway line, its benefits, and the expected improvements for passengers and goods transport.

The Railway Ministry has announced an exciting development for train travel in Bihar. They have approved a project to double the Ara-Sasaram railway line, which is about 110 kilometers long. The project will require an investment of around Rs 700 crore and aims to complete the work within the next three years.

Currently, the railway team is working on land acquisition and conducting joint surveys in Bhojpur and Rohtas districts. This means they are measuring the land and preparing a route map to identify any areas that may need special attention. Once they finish acquiring the land, the construction agency will take over to start building the new tracks.

This doubling project will greatly help reduce the burden on the main train line between Danapur and Mughalsarai. Right now, it’s a single line, which causes delays as trains have to wait to pass each other. With the new double line, trains will run more smoothly and on time, allowing more trains to operate without delays.

One of the major beneficiaries of this project will be the Chausa Thermal Power Plant. Transporting coal from Dhanbad in Jharkhand to the plant is quite costly and takes a lot of time. Once the new line is operational, this process will become much faster and cheaper, leading to better power generation and increased revenue for the Railways.

Passengers will also feel the benefits of this project. Currently, only a handful of trains run on this line, but once the doubling is done, there will be many more trains and they will be faster too. This will improve connections to Patna and other cities for people living in Bhojpur, Rohtas, and Kaimur districts.

Summary:

  • Railway Ministry has approved the doubling of the Ara-Sasaram railway line.

  • The project will cost around Rs 700 crore and aims to finish in three years.

  • Land surveys are underway for construction preparation.

  • Train delays will reduce, improving travel times for passengers.

  • The project will also benefit the Chausa Thermal Power Plant significantly.
