This article shares news about special train services being introduced by the Railways for the Chhath festival in Bihar.
The Railways is stepping up its services for the Chhath festival. They are running 77 special trains to help passengers traveling from Mumbai and nearby areas to Bihar in the next three days. This decision comes as more people are expected to travel during this busy season.
Among the 77 special trains, 24 will begin from the Mumbai division. In addition to the regular 100 trains, around 8-10 special trains will operate daily from Mumbai to make it easier for people traveling to states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh.
For today, two extra trains will run to Gorakhpur and Varanasi, with 24 special trains scheduled on October 26. Some trains like Dadar-Gorakhpur, Dadar-Ballia, and Nagpur-Madgaon are already operational, and the Central Railway is adding more special trains to meet the demand.
The Railways has also set up large waiting areas at stations for the convenience of passengers. At CSMT, there’s a waiting area of 1,200 square meters for about 1,500 people, and LTT has a bigger holding area of 10,000 square meters for over 10,000 passengers. They are making sure platforms are organized to avoid crowding.
To ensure passenger safety and comfort, regular announcements are being made, and queues are formed for boarding. More security personnel are deployed, especially at busy stations, and there are arrangements for water, toilets, and cleanliness to help travelers during this festive time.
