Patna, the capital city of Bihar, experienced a drop in temperature of around four degrees Celsius due to cold winds and a recent bout of rain. The increase in humidity and the presence of a cold breeze made the cold even more intense. The weather forecast predicts the possibility of rain and further drop in temperature from February 12 onwards, which will further intensify the cold during the Saraswati Puja festival. Despite the sun shining brightly on Wednesday, the cold breeze continued throughout the day, causing discomfort to people. The minimum temperature in Gaya was recorded at 10.5 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature reached 24.1 degrees Celsius. The humidity levels were 81 percent in the morning and 35 percent in the evening. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature in Gaya was 14.6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 24.2 degrees Celsius. The strong cold winds in Bhagalpur district have intensified after the rain, providing some relief from the cold. The maximum temperature in the district was recorded at 23.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was nine degrees Celsius. The cold is expected to continue in Bhagalpur between February 12 and 23, but there will be some relief during the day when the sun comes out. Light clouds are expected in the sky during this period, with a possibility of western winds blowing at a speed of 3 to 7 kilometers per hour. The minimum temperature is expected to be around six to 11.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to range between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius. Farmers are advised not to spray any pesticides on crops during strong winds. In the next 24 hours, there will be a decrease in temperature during the day and night, according to the weather department’s forecast. The cold winds have led to people wearing warm clothes in both urban and rural areas. There was a moderate fog effect in the sub-district area on Thursday. Agricultural scientist Dr. Vipul Kumar Mandal has predicted a decrease in temperature during the day and night after the next 24 hours. He said the maximum temperature on Thursday was 23 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 11 degrees Celsius. During this time, there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 12 to 23 kilometers per hour. He also said that the sky is expected to be clear and the weather dry on Thursday. The weather forecast for Delhi is yellow alert, and farmers are concerned about the possibility of rain. Rabi crops, as well as pulses and oilseed crops, could be significantly affected. The potato crop is also at risk of fungal diseases, and there is an increased chance of no fruit formation in drumstick trees due to the falling of their flowers. However, according to agricultural scientists, farmers are advised to take precautions and spray their crops with pesticides. The fluctuating weather and cold winds over the past week have led to an increase in the number of patients in both government and private hospitals. Existing patients with chronic illnesses are particularly affected. Children and the elderly are also suffering from cold, cough, and congestion. Dr. Pankaj Kumar advises people to take extra precautions during this change in weather and to avoid contact with those who have weather-related illnesses.
