A new international cricket stadium is now operational in Rajgir, Bihar. The facility was built with a total expenditure of Rs 1,121 crore and covers a large area of 90 acres. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated this sports complex in October 2025. It stands as a significant development for cricket in the state and is equipped to host major tournaments.
What are the capacity and pitch details of the stadium?
This venue can accommodate between 40,000 and 45,000 spectators during matches. It ranks as the second largest cricket stadium in India after the one in Ahmedabad. The ground features 13 different pitches prepared under expert supervision. Six pitches use red soil brought from Pune, while seven use black soil from Mokama. The drainage system is modern and perforated to handle rain efficiently, ensuring matches are not delayed for long.
Which facilities are available for players and fans?
The main pavilion building has five floors and holds 10,000 seats for VIPs and officials. The general stands provide space for another 27,000 people. The stadium includes high-mast lights, a digital scoreboard, and specialized rooms for media and broadcasting. Players have access to gyms and physio rooms inside the complex. The Bihar Cricket Association owns the stadium, which is modeled after the famous Sydney Cricket Ground.
