Mohan Prakash/Supaul: Devotion has the power to transform lives, as seen in the story of Ram Das, a resident of Banailipatti village in Basantpur block of Supaul district. Inspired by a saint from the neighboring village of Basmathia, Ram Das sold all his 15 acres of land for 15 lakh rupees to build a temple. Not only that, he gave up his worldly possessions and became a priest in the same temple, dedicating his life to devotion.
Construction of the temple began on December 17th and was completed in 2017. The foundation stone was laid on the auspicious day of Ram Navami, and the temple now houses idols of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman, among other deities. Ram Das spends 24 hours a day immersed in devotion, serving as an example to others and spreading the message of righteousness.
Ram Das’s act of devotion has become an inspiration for the community. Local resident Asha Narayan Mishra shared that Ram Das’s devotion to God was so profound that he donated all his wealth to the temple. Today, the temple has become a center of faith for people, and many in the community have started following in Ram Das’s footsteps. In a time when material possessions are causing violence and hatred, Ram Das’s devotion has become a guiding light for society.
