Bihar Records Severe Heatwave in 11 Districts

Bihar is currently facing a severe heatwave with 11 districts experiencing temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature recorded in Aurangabad was 48.2 degrees Celsius, breaking a 128-year-old record. Gaya also witnessed a record-breaking temperature, further intensifying the heatwave across the state.

Gaya Records Highest Temperature Since 1896

Gaya recorded its highest temperature since 1896 with a scorching 47.4 degrees Celsius. Several other districts in Bihar, including Aurangabad, Arwal, and Dehri, also reported temperatures above 46 degrees Celsius. The IMD has issued an orange alert due to the extreme heatwave conditions prevailing in the state.

Causes and Relief from the Heatwave

The intense heatwave in Bihar has been attributed to various factors, including high-pressure areas and dry winds. While relief is expected in some districts with light rainfall and thunderstorms, the overall heatwave situation remains critical. IMD forecasts suggest a slight decrease in temperatures in certain regions, but the state continues to grapple with the severe heatwave.
