Jharkhand records highest temperature in 46 years
Jharkhand is experiencing extreme heat with the previous 46-year record on the verge of being broken. The scorching sun and hot winds have made daily life chaotic. Some areas of the state had a slight drop in temperature due to the cyclonic storm, but in the last 24 hours, all districts have recorded high temperatures. Palamu region is the most affected, with Daltonganj recording 47.5 degrees on Tuesday, the second-highest temperature in May in the last 46 years.
Heatwave alert issued in Jharkhand
The weather department has issued a heatwave orange alert in all districts of Jharkhand. The highest risk of heatwave is in Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra districts. People have been advised to stay cautious in these areas. The alert is in effect until May 30, with a possibility of rainfall in several districts on June 1.
Severe heatwave grips Ranchi
Ranchi is also experiencing intense heat, with temperatures expected to reach 42.0 degrees. The weather department had predicted a temperature of 40 degrees, but it soared to 40.4 degrees Celsius by 3:30 pm. This is the second time this May that temperatures have crossed the 40-degree mark in Ranchi.
Weather forecast for Jharkhand
In the past 24 hours, many areas of Jharkhand have witnessed a rise in temperature and strong winds along with thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall was recorded in Pakur, while Daltonganj had the highest temperature at 41.5 degrees Celsius. Giridih recorded the lowest temperature at 23.9 degrees Celsius. The weather in Ranchi changed in the evening with clouds and cool breeze providing relief from the scorching heat.
