Big news for the people of Mithilanchal! A new train service will begin around the New Year, giving residents near the India-Nepal border another way to reach Patna.

According to local MP Ramprit Mandal, this regular train service will connect Laukaha and Patna through Darbhanga starting January. This will make travel easier for many people living in border areas.

The train service is expected to help those traveling for education, health, and work. The MP had requested the rail minister to introduce this service, and now it’s confirmed for next month.

The railway ministry has also approved significant projects for the region, including a ₹1540 crore plan to double the railway line between Jhanjharpur and Laukaha, and another ₹2460 crore for a long-pending rail line from Sitamarhi to Janakpur.

Laukaha Bazaar station has reopened after years, now operational with broad gauge trains. With the new direct service to Patna, local traders, students, and travelers can expect significant benefits. This initiative aims to improve connectivity in flood-affected Mithilanchal.
