Remodeling Work at Chapra Junction for Passenger Convenience and Smooth Operation of Trains
Remodeling work is underway at Chapra Junction to enhance the capacity of its yard and increase line capacity. After the completion of the remodeling work at Chapra yard, there will be an increase in line capacity as well. This information was provided by Ashok Kumar, the Mandal Jan Sampark Officer of Varanasi Rail Division. He further explained that non-interlock goods trains at Chapra Junction used to be manually operated from the non-interlock goods yard. With the completion of the interlock, more goods trains can now be received and dispatched in less time, resulting in improved operation of passenger trains as well.
Increase in Platform Numbers at Chapra Junction
Ashok Kumar stated that after the completion of the remodeling work, a greater number of trains can be accommodated on the platforms, reducing waiting time for long-distance train passengers. With the addition of three new platforms, there will now be a total of eight platforms available at Chapra Junction, allowing for the smooth operation of more passenger trains. This will eliminate the need to halt trains on the outer side due to the unavailability of platforms, saving time for passengers and reducing their waiting time to reach their destination.
No More Waiting on the Outer Side for Trains
After the increase in platform numbers at Chapra Junction, there will be no need to halt trains on the outer side for Gautamsthana and Chapra Kachahri-bound passenger trains. This will result in time savings for passengers and eliminate the need for excessive waiting to reach their destination. Due to the remodeling work at Chapra Junction yard, the Chapra Pit Line will be blocked until January 12, 2024. As a result, the railway administration has made the decision to short-terminate or short-origin several trains originating or terminating at Chapra.
