What’s inside:

This article reveals how the Indian Railways has neglected land acquired from Rohtas Industries in Dalmianagar since 2007.

A recent RTI query has shown that the Indian Railways has done nothing with the 219 acres of land it took over from Rohtas Industries in Dalmianagar back in 2007. Once a symbol of India’s industrial strength, this area now sits unused with rusty machinery lying around.

Dalmianagar was once a thriving industrial town, founded in 1933, with factories producing everything from cement to chemicals. It was a bustling place with over 20,000 workers at its peak. Sadly, by the 1980s, the town began to decline due to various issues, and the factories have been silent for decades.

The RTI reply from the East Central Railway has revealed that since acquiring the land, there have been no projects or activities initiated by the Railways. They have admitted that the plans for using the land are still “not yet finalised,” despite nearly two decades passing.

Interestingly, the only thing the Railways keep mentioning is that the land is “to be used for development of the Railways.” But there are no concrete plans or actions taken so far, leaving the area in a state of neglect.

This situation reflects the broader issues of unemployment and halted development in Bihar. Many promises have been made by various leaders to revive the Dalmianagar area, but none have materialised, leaving the community in limbo.

Summary:

  • The Indian Railways has neglected land in Dalmianagar for 18 years.

  • Once a thriving industrial hub, Dalmianagar now lies abandoned.

  • No plans or projects have been initiated for the acquired land.

  • The situation highlights unemployment issues in Bihar.

  • Promises to revive the area have not been fulfilled.
