Residents of Samastipur and North Bihar can now travel to Mumbai comfortably without spending a lot of money. The new Amrit Bharat Express has started its regular operations, offering a journey to Mumbai for just 880 Rs in the sleeper class. This train provides facilities similar to premium trains but at a price that fits the budget of a common man. The regular service on the DDU-Samastipur-Katihar route began on 23 February 2026.
Ticket Price and Train Schedule
The railway board has fixed the sleeper class fare from Samastipur to Mumbai (Panvel/LTT) at 880 Rs. Although this is slightly more than the 770 Rs fare of Pawan Express or 865 Rs of Avadh Express, passengers get a much better travel experience. The train connects North Bihar to Mumbai and North-East India efficiently.
- Train 11032 (Alipurduar to Panvel): This train reaches Samastipur every Friday at 04:45 PM. It arrives in Panvel, Mumbai on Saturday morning at 05:30 AM.
- Train 11031 (Panvel to Alipurduar): It leaves Panvel every Monday at 11:50 AM and reaches Samastipur on Tuesday night at 10:45 PM.
- Sunday Special: Another train, the Saharsa-Mumbai LTT Amrit Bharat Express (11016), leaves Samastipur every Sunday at 07:10 AM.
Facilities and Comfort for Passengers
The Amrit Bharat Express is a non-AC train that uses modern “Push-Pull” technology with engines at both ends. This helps the train run faster and reduces the jerks usually felt in older trains. CPRO Saraswati Chandra stated that this train is a safe and fast option for long-distance travelers.
Inside the coaches, passengers will find seats with better cushions and mobile charging points for convenience. For safety, the train is equipped with CCTV cameras and fire detection systems. The toilets are designed to be clean and modern, featuring bio-vacuum systems and sensor-based taps. The train stops at major stations including DDU, Patliputra, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Khagaria, and Mansi.
