Ukrainian-Israeli army job fraud is targeting young people in various cities in India. The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, as well as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, has led to a shortage of workers in both countries. Exploiting this shortage, cyber scammers are using social media to lure people into applying for jobs in these countries. The governments of Israel, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have released official advertisements seeking workers to address the labor shortage.
The Haryana government has advertised to send 10,000 of its own people to Israel, while the Uttar Pradesh government has proposed sending 15,000 workers. Scammers are using social media to circulate posts claiming to offer job opportunities in these countries. These accounts are allegedly connected to Ukraine and Israel but contain Indian names in their lists.
One such post claimed to be offering a job as a typist in exchange for $1200 a month. After the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Gaza workers’ work permits were revoked, leading to a shortage of workers in Israel. The Israel government opposed the idea of sending workers from India. This news came to light when the Haryana government released an official advertisement for people to apply for jobs in Israel.
Sudhanshu Kumar from Patna saw a similar post on Facebook and expressed his desire to work there in the comments. He was then asked to check his inbox for further instructions. However, he did not receive a response in his inbox. Later, he noticed a link in his inbox that appeared to be a Telegram link. When he clicked on it, his mobile hung for a while. Sudhanshu became suspicious and immediately turned off his mobile data and reset his phone. According to him, it was a fake link that allowed scammers to access his mobile. It is advised to be cautious if you receive job offers in the name of these countries, as falling for such scams can lead to fraud.
