Bihar Weather: Heatwave Continues
The situation of the heatwave in Bihar continues with high temperatures and hot winds causing discomfort both during the day and at night. The intense heat is affecting daily life as well as the lives of animals and birds, with reports of bird deaths due to the extreme heat. Alerts have been issued for severe heat in several districts of South Bihar, with some areas in North Bihar also expected to experience hot days.
Hottest Districts: Buxar and Bhojpur
Buxar and Bhojpur recorded the highest temperatures in Bihar, with the mercury soaring to 45.9 degrees Celsius. Alerts have been issued for the possibility of heatwaves in most districts of South Bihar till June 14. Orange alerts have been issued for Loo in Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka, and Jamui. Some areas in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Chapra are also expected to experience hot days.
Alerts Issued by Weather Department
The weather department has issued alerts for the heatwave in Bihar, advising citizens to take precautions and follow disaster management guidelines to prevent the negative effects of the extreme heat. The heatwave is expected to continue till June 10-14, with a return to normal conditions predicted from June 15-16. Chhapra district’s temperature has surpassed last year’s record, with the heatwave showing no signs of easing.
Precautionary Measures by Disaster Department
The Disaster Department has recommended taking precautions to prevent the negative impact of the heatwave, such as avoiding outdoor activities during peak hours, staying hydrated, wearing light-colored loose clothing, and using protective eyewear, hats, and footwear when going out in the sun. Special care should be taken during the hottest hours of the day, and excessive heat exposure should be avoided.
