Heatwave Alert in Jharkhand

The capital city of Ranchi, along with many districts in Jharkhand, is reeling under severe heatwave conditions. An orange alert for heatwave has been issued in most parts of the state, particularly in the north-western and adjacent central regions, where the impact of heatwave is expected to be felt. However, certain areas like Garhwa, Palamu East and West Singhbhum, along with Saraikela Kharsawan have been included in the orange alert for heatwave starting from June 17.

Weather Updates and Rainfall

Despite the heatwave conditions, some parts of Jharkhand experienced light to moderate rainfall today. Wind speeds of 40 to 50 km/h are also expected during this time. The weather department has forecast partial cloud cover in some areas today. Monsoon is expected to arrive in Jharkhand by June 19, slightly delayed this year.

Extreme Weather Conditions

Over the past 24 hours, various parts of the state witnessed light to moderate rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms. The area of Bansjor in Simdega received the highest recorded rainfall of 21.0 mm. Daltenganj recorded the highest temperature at 46.5 degrees Celsius, while Chaibasa recorded the lowest at 25.8 degrees Celsius.

Continued High Temperatures

Despite some areas experiencing rainfall, many districts in Jharkhand continue to face temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Places like Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahibganj have recorded temperatures above 37 degrees Celsius. These areas are likely to receive the first monsoon showers in the coming days.
