Shravani Mela 2024
During the Shravani Mela 2024, devotees of Lord Shiva from Sultanganj are carrying holy water from the Ganges to Babadham Deoghar in large numbers every day. These devotees, known as Kanwariyas, travel on foot as well as by vehicles. While some walk on the rough Kanwariya path from Sultanganj, others travel in vehicles on the main road adjacent to this path. Unfortunately, there have been several incidents where Kanwariyas have faced accidents, with one recent incident resulting in the death of a Kanwariya in Sitamarhi due to an electric shock.
Sitamarhi Kanwariya’s Death by Electric Shock
A Kanwariya traveling by bus from Sultanganj to Babadham Deoghar met with a tragic accident as he came in contact with high-voltage electric wires while unloading cooking equipment from the bus near Dhandi Belari Shambhuganj Road in Bath Thana area. The shock caused him to fall from the bus and sustain severe injuries. His fellow Kanwariyas rushed him to a temporary health camp, from where he was referred to Sultanganj Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared the injured Kanwariya dead at the referral hospital.
Companions Take Deceased Kanwariya’s Body Home
The deceased Kanwariya has been identified as Mahesh Rai (55) from Sitamarhi. His companions expressed the desire to take his body home from the hospital, and they carried the body away in an ambulance. Bath Thana Chief KK Jha mentioned that the police station had not received any information regarding this incident.
Ranchi Kanwariya Child Referred to Bhagalpur
An eight-year-old Kanwariya child from Ranchi, Jharkhand, named Abhijeet, experienced a sudden deterioration in health during the pilgrimage. He was referred to Bhagalpur for better medical treatment as he started having convulsions. Similarly, Kanwariyas Vasudev Lal Soren from Nepal, Atul Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, and Tinku Modak from Dhanbad and Katras were also referred to a referral hospital for medical attention due to health issues during the pilgrimage. After receiving treatment and recovering, they resumed their journey to Babadham.
श्रावणी मेला 2024 में सुल्तानगंज से बाबाधाम देवघर जाने वाले कांवड़िए भागलपुर और रांची में हुए हादसों की खबरें सामने आ रही हैं। एक कांवड़िया को बिजली तार से लगने से मौत हो गई जबकि दूसरे कांवड़िए की तबीयत बिगड़ने पर उसे भागलपुर रेफर किया गया। इन हादसों से बचने के लिए अब कांवड़िए को सावधानी बरतनी होगी।
