In her letter, she mentioned her position as the central secretary and active member of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and expressed deep sorrow while submitting her resignation.
Background of Sita Soren
Sita Soren, also known as Gurujji, is the daughter-in-law of Shibu Soren and the sister-in-law of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren. She has been a three-time MLA from the Dumka Jamtara constituency. Her discontent with the party has been brewing for several months, and she has openly criticized the party on several occasions. Her rebellious attitude has drawn comparisons with Jharkhand’s Aparna Yadav.
Political Dynamics in Jharkhand
In 2009, Shibu Soren’s elder son and former JMM Secretary General Durga Soren passed away. After his death, Hemant Soren’s stature in the party rose, but Sita Soren did not find a place in Hemant’s cabinet. It is said in Jharkhand’s political circles that if Durga Soren were alive, he would have been made the Chief Minister instead of Hemant. In this scenario, Sita Soren has been striving to establish herself in Jharkhand politics.
Aparna Yadav’s Comparison
Aparna Yadav, the daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav, had similar aspirations to establish herself in Uttar Pradesh politics but could not succeed entirely within the Samajwadi Party. After contesting elections on the SP ticket and facing defeat, she criticized Akhilesh Yadav on several occasions. Frustrated with the lack of attention in SP, Aparna Yadav left the party before the 2022 Assembly elections and joined BJP. Sita Soren seems to be following a similar path, as she has now resigned from the party and is speculated to join BJP soon.
