Neeraj Kumar from Begusarai has become a successful farmer by venturing into beekeeping. Despite facing challenges in availing government schemes, Neeraj Kumar has managed to earn a good income by practicing beekeeping in Bihar as well as in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand. He started beekeeping in 2011 after getting the idea from Professor Sachchidanand Tiwari of Begusarai. Despite facing difficulties in accessing government benefits, Neeraj Kumar took a loan of 50,000 INR from money lenders and started his beekeeping business. He now exports honey to other states and earns more than 1.5 million INR annually.
Neeraj Kumar, a resident of Begusarai, has successfully transformed himself into a progressive farmer by practicing beekeeping. He has been in the beekeeping business since 2011 and got the idea from Professor Sachchidanand Tiwari of Begusarai. Initially, he faced difficulties in accessing government schemes and went from one office to another without any help. Eventually, he took a loan of 50,000 INR from money lenders and started his beekeeping venture. With time, his beekeeping business grew, and he now exports honey to other states.
Neeraj Kumar Nirala earns an annual income of more than 1.5 million INR through beekeeping. He currently maintains 280 beehives, with each hive costing more than 100,000 INR. He harvests honey from each hive 3 to 4 times a month. During the mustard season, he harvests honey four times, and during the lychee season, he harvests honey five times. He sells his honey in the market, earning more than 1.5 million INR annually. Beekeeping has allowed Neeraj Kumar to improve his financial situation in a short period of time. Additionally, the government provides a subsidy of up to 85% for beekeeping, while also offering a 75% subsidy on purchasing bees.
नीरज कुमार/बेगूसराय: हमारे देश के किसान जन के पोषक और श्रम के देवता हैं. वहीं, सरकार प्रगतिशील किसानों के लिए कई योजनाएं चलाकर उनको आत्मनिर्भर बनाने का लगातार प्रयास कर रही हैं. इन्हीं योजनाओं में से एक है मधुमक्खी पालन. हालांकि कई बार देखने में आता है कि अधिकारियों की लापरवाही की वजह से किसानों को इस योजना का लाभ नहीं मिल पाता है. इसके बावजूद बेगूसराय के किसान मनोज कुमार निराला बिहार के अलावा राजस्थान, मध्य प्रदेश, उत्तर प्रदेश और झारखंड में जाकर सालभर मधुमक्खी पालन कर मोटी कमाई कर रहे हैं. बेगूसराय के रहने वाले मनोज कुमार निराला अब प्रगतिशील किसान बन चुके हैं. उन्होंने बताया कि वह 2011 से ही मधुमक्खी पालन कर रहे हैं. साथ ही बताया कि उनको मधुमक्खी पालन का आइडिया बेगूसराय के प्रो. सच्चिदानंद तिवारी से मिला था था. इसके बाद सरकार की योजनाओं का लाभ लेने के लिए एक दफ्तर से दूसरे दफ्तर चक्कर लगाते रहे, लेकिन कोई मदद नहीं मिली. फिर साहूकारों से 50 हजार कर्ज लेकर मधुमक्खी पालन के क्षेत्र में कदम रखा, लेकिन अब खुद की कमाई हुई पूंजी से मधुमक्खी पालन कर रहे हैं. धीरे-धीरे मधुमक्खी पालन का कारोबार बढ़ने लगा है और आज शहद दूसरे राज्य में निर्यात करने लगे हैं. सालाना 15 लाख की कमाई मधुमक्खी पालक मनोज कुमार निराला ने बताया कि फिलहाल 280 पेटी में मधुमक्खी पालन कर रहे हैं. मधुमक्खी को पालने में एक लाख से ज्यादा की लागत आती है. महीने में 3 से 4 बार शहद का उत्पादन प्रत्येक पेटी से कर लेते हैं. सरसों के समय में चार बार, तो लीची के समय मधुमक्खी पांच बार शहद देती है. साथ ही बताया कि लीची के समय में शहद काफी मीठा निकलता है. वहीं, सालाना 15 लाख से ज्यादा का शहद उत्पादन कर बाजारों में बेच लेते हैं. साथ ही बताया कि मधुमक्खी पालन से आप कुछ समय में ही अपनी आर्थिक स्थिति बेहतर कर सकते हैं. बता दें कि मधुमक्खी पालन के लिए सरकार किसानों को 85 फीसदी तक की सब्सिडी देती है. जबकि मधुमक्खी खरीदने पर 75 फीसदी सब्सिडी देने का प्रावधान है.
