Mohan Prakash/Supaul: The people of Kosi region have immense faith in the renowned saint and Indian literary figure Paramhansa Lakshminath Gosai. It is believed that due to the power of Babaji (as he is affectionately called), the people of this area attain immense knowledge. Mohan Prakash was born in the village of Parasarama in the Sadar block of Supaul district. It is believed that even today, people’s heartfelt wishes are fulfilled in his hut. Moreover, the soil from that place and the water from Babaji’s footprints provide relief from evil eye for both humans and animals. The caretaker of the hut, Dinesh Jha, mentioned that the footprints of Babaji and the temple of Lord Narayan are present in the hut. It is said that if someone’s cow starts giving less milk or if animals are affected by evil eye in the surrounding areas, then giving them the water from Babaji’s footprints and washing them with the water brings relief from all kinds of evil eye. It also provides liberation from spiritual disturbances.

According to the worshipper Sri Jha, who has authored six books, Sant Lakshminath Gosai was born on December 7, 1793, in the home of Bachha Jha and Nirmala Devi, residents of Parasarama. His education and initiation took place in Mahinathpur village in Madhubani district. He achieved enlightenment in Rahuwa-Sangram village in the same district. After that, he established his religious center in Badgaon of Saharsa district. His devotional singing centers were in Lakhnaur of Madhubani district, Ramoli of Darbhanga district, Singhia of Samastipur district, and Kahara of Saharsa district. However, his final resting place is in Fatki of Madhubani district, where he passed away in 1872. He wrote several compositions including Panchratna Geetawali, Vivek Ratnavali, Akaradi Dohavali, Bhasha Tatvabodh, Shriram Ratnavali, Guru Choubisi, and Shri Krishna Ratnavali.
