Good news for the people in Supaul! A new railway line is being planned to connect Lalitgram and Birpur, which is about 22 kilometers long and located near the India-Nepal border. This project has recently received the green light from the Railway Board, marking an important step forward.

The Railway Board approved the final location survey of this railway project on September 9, 2025. Following that, the budget for the survey was also approved on December 9, 2025. Once this survey is complete, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be created, which is necessary for starting construction.

This new railway line is expected to make travel easier for people living in the area. It will not only improve daily commutes but is also likely to create more job opportunities and boost local businesses, especially in regions close to Nepal. The community is thankful to the Bihar Government’s Energy and Finance Minister, Vijendra Prasad Yadav, for his efforts in getting this project moving.

The line will enhance rail connectivity, which is crucial for regional development and security. This means residents can look forward to better access to services and facilities. The railway line will help in strengthening the infrastructure in the area, making it more appealing for investment.

As for the next steps, tenders for the final location survey are expected to be invited by January 8, 2026. This initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to completing the railway project, paving the way for the construction phase to begin soon.
