The deceased has been identified as Champa Devi (22), wife of Kamlesh Chaudhary. Champa’s father, Pramod Chaudhary, received information from neighbors that his daughter had hanged herself. He and other family members rushed to the in-laws’ house only to find Champa’s body lying under the bed. The in-laws were nowhere to be found, leading to suspicions that they may have been involved in foul play. The family has accused them of killing Champa for dowry. Four years ago, Pramod Chaudhary, a resident of Harbanshpur under the Silao police station area, had arranged his daughter’s marriage with Kamlesh Chaudhary, a resident of Bhui.
According to the Silao police station chief, Rakesh Kumar, they received information late at night that the body of a woman was lying in her in-laws’ house. The police immediately reached the village and took custody of the body, sending it to the Sadar hospital for post-mortem examination. The victim’s family has filed a complaint accusing the in-laws of killing her for dowry. The cause of death will be revealed after the post-mortem report is received. Initially, it appears to be a case of suicide due to domestic dispute. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the in-laws have fled the house after the incident.
