Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav took a direct dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar regarding his decision to leave the CM post for a Rajya Sabha seat. Speaking on Monday, Tej Pratap claimed that Nitish Kumar must be willing to be ousted, which is why he is leaving his position. This political development comes as Nitish Kumar filed his nomination, signaling the end of his nearly 20-year tenure as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

What did Tej Pratap Yadav say about Nitish Kumar?

Tej Pratap Yadav criticized the outgoing Chief Minister, stating that the people of Bihar voted for change, but the leader himself is abandoning his seat rather than delivering that change. He further commented that the double-engine government will now have to tell who will become the next Chief Minister. Opposition leaders have alleged that the move to the Rajya Sabha is a result of BJP pressure to install a BJP Chief Minister in the state.

During the same interaction, Tej Pratap also spoke about Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, who formally joined the JD(U) on March 8. Tej Pratap noted that while Nishant is older than him, he should have entered the political arena much sooner.

Upcoming Elections and JJD Future Plans

Nitish Kumar filed his official nomination for the Rajya Sabha on March 5. He stated that moving to the Upper House fulfills his personal desire to serve in all four legislative houses, including the Bihar Assembly, Bihar Council, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, Tej Pratap Yadav shared his newly formed party’s future political plans.

  • The JJD plans to contest the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal.
  • The party will also seek seats in the Bihar Legislative Council.
  • Voting for the five vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar is scheduled for March 16.
