NIA Chargesheet Reveals Terrorists’ Plans
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently disclosed in court that terrorists were planning to carry out attacks in various cities of the country by providing Maoists and organized criminal syndicates with extremely dangerous weapons like hand grenades and large quantities of explosives smuggled from Myanmar.
Arrest of Bhikhan Ganju and Link to Purnia Case
The NIA filed its chargesheet in a special court related to the arrest of Bhikhan Ganju in Jharkhand, who is accused of being the zonal commander of a third presentation committee (TPC). The TPC has been declared a terrorist organization by the Jharkhand government under section 16 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1908. Ganju’s name is also linked to the 2019 Purnia incident where a cache of modern foreign weapons, grenade launchers, and explosives were seized.
Usage of Weapons for Spreading Terror
The investigation revealed that the dangerous weapons seized by Bihar police, including modern firearms and explosives, were intended to be used for carrying out terrorist attacks in different parts of the country. These weapons were also meant to intimidate and threaten transporters and coal contractors in Jharkhand through armed cadres, as well as for illegal extortion and targeting those who opposed them.
