Revelation of Scam Involving Thousands of Farmers in Katihar
Katihar police have exposed a scam involving nearly two thousand farmers. It is worth mentioning that Katihar is famous for maize production in Seemanchal. Farmers in the district cultivate maize on a large scale and sell the produce to traders to get a fair price. In connection with this scam, Pritam Traders owner Gautam Kumar Choudhary, along with several farmers and traders in the district, cheated the farmers by purchasing maize.
Arrest of Culprits and Recovery of Cash
Following a complaint lodged at the Pothia police station on 17/6/2024, the police had been searching for Gautam Choudhary for the past one and a half months. The police arrested two individuals involved in cheating more than two thousand maize farmers and traders in Katihar, Purnia, and Araria, with nearly 4 crores in cash recovered. During a press conference today, SP Jitendra Kumar revealed that the police were vigilant in uncovering the scam involving nearly two thousand farmers.
Main Accused Arrested and Cash Seized
The main accused, Gautam Choudhary, and his accomplice Krishna Jaiswal, residents of Dumra in the Pothia police station area, were arrested. The police seized 4 crores 8 lakhs 94 thousand 450 rupees in cash and placed 31 lakh rupees in various banks on hold. The raiding team included Police Deputy Superintendent Saddam Hussain, Pothia Police Station Chief Vivek Kumar, Kursela Police Station Chief Guddu Kumar, Falakia Police Station Chief Munna Kumar Patel, Arvind Kumar Sharma, Ram Shankar Kumar, Ritesh Kumar, Kundan Patel, Manish Kumar, Ayush Kumar, among others.
Continued Investigation and Legal Action
The police are continuing their investigation into the scam involving thousands of farmers and traders. The accused have been arrested, and legal action will be taken against them for cheating the farmers in the region. The recovered cash and held funds in banks will be crucial evidence in the case, as the police work towards bringing justice to the victims of the scam.
कटिहार पुलिस ने करीब दो हजार किसानों से ठगी मामले का खुलासा किया है। इस मामले में पुलिस ने प्रीतम ट्रेडर्स के मालिक गौतम कुमार चौधरी और उनके सहयोगी कृष्णा जायसवाल को गिरफ्तार किया है। इस ठगी मामले में लगभग 4 करोड़ नगद और 31 लाख रुपए बैंकों में होल्ड करवाए गए हैं। इस मामले में कई पुलिस अधिकारी भी शामिल हैं जिन्होंने इस मामले की छानबीन में सहायता की है।
