State Bureau, Patna:
– The state prisons in Bihar will no longer tolerate prisoners communicating secretly through mobile phones, as complaints regarding this issue have been frequent. To address this problem, the Tower of Harmonic Call Blocking System (THCBS) will be installed in jails.
– The Home Department has approved the installation of THCBS in 15 major jails, including eight central jails, in the first phase. This system will be able to drop the mobile network within a certain perimeter inside the jail.
– In addition to installing THCBS, the vigilance in terms of goods being carried into the jail will be increased. The plan to set up search booths in all jails has been approved, which will involve increasing the number of scanners and frisking machines for regular checking of prisoners and others.
– The Department of Telecommunications, under the direction of the Union Home Ministry, conducted a survey of the signal strength and quality in the prison premises and surrounding areas. The survey revealed the availability of signals and potential for unauthorized communication. The department has also conducted adjustment and optimization work on the antennas.
