Heading 1: Things to Avoid While Offering Puja to Lord Mahadev
Before performing the worship and rituals of Lord Mahadev, it is important to pay attention to certain things. It is said that to please Lord Bholenath, you need to be mindful of the items you offer to him. Astrologer Pandit Shatrughna Jha suggests that you should have knowledge about the items you are offering to Lord Mahadev, so that he doesn’t get upset instead of being pleased.
Heading 2: Items to Avoid Offering to Lord Mahadev
There are several items that should never be offered to Lord Mahadev. Let’s find out from the astrologer which items fall into this category and what consequences it can have.
1. Tulsi Leaves: Tulsi leaves should never be used on the Shivalinga. Even during the worship of Lord Shiva, one should not offer tulsi leaves, as it is considered inauspicious. This is because Tulsi’s husband, the demon Jalandhar, was killed by Lord Shiva. Therefore, tulsi should not be offered on the Shivalinga.
2. Turmeric: Offering turmeric on the Shivalinga is also considered forbidden. Turmeric is considered a feminine item and should not be offered on the Shivalinga, which is considered a symbol of masculinity. Therefore, offering turmeric to Lord Bholenath is prohibited.
3. Sesame Seeds: While offering water to the Shivalinga, never add black sesame seeds to it. It is believed that sesame seeds originated from the sweat of Lord Vishnu, and should never be offered to Lord Shiva. However, white sesame seeds can be offered to Lord Bholenath, but never black sesame seeds.
Heading 3: More Items to Avoid Offering to Lord Mahadev
4. Broken Rice: Never offer broken rice to Lord Mahadev, as it is considered incomplete and impure. The rice used as Akshat (offering) should be whole. Be careful while offering Akshat to Lord Bholenath that no rice is broken, as it can lead to loss of wealth and respect.
5. Coconut Water: While coconut water can be offered during the worship of Lord Mahadev, it should never be offered on the Shivalinga. It is believed that coconut represents Goddess Lakshmi, who is associated with Lord Vishnu. Hence, coconut water should not be offered on the Shivalinga.
6. Kumkum or Sindoor: Offering sindoor or kumkum to Lord Shiva should never be done. This is prohibited according to Shiv Puran. It is believed that sindoor is used by women for the long life of their husbands, while Lord Shiva is considered to be the destroyer. Therefore, sindoor should not be offered on the Shivalinga.
जमुई के गुलशन कश्यप ने बताया है कि देवाधिदेव महादेव की पूजा करते समय कुछ बातों का ध्यान रखना जरूरी है। उन्होंने बताया कि तुलसी की पत्तियां, हल्दी, तिल, टूटे चावल, नारियल पानी और सिंदूर शिवलिंग पर नहीं चढ़ाने चाहिए, क्योंकि ये अशुभ माने जाते हैं। इसके साथ ही वे बताते हैं कि ये वस्तुएं भगवान विष्णु और देवी लक्ष्मी से संबंधित होती हैं और इन्हें भगवान शिव के प्रतीक पर चढ़ाना उचित नहीं माना जाता है।
