Three men were arrested at Tata Nagar Railway Station for trying to smuggle ganja from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh.
On Sunday, the RPF team at Tata Nagar Railway Station caught three men who were trying to smuggle ganja from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh. They were arrested while carrying around 36 kilograms of ganja. This action was taken during a routine patrol ordered by senior commander P. Shankar Kutty.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Manzoor Ali from West Champaran, Vivekanand from Kushinagar, and Ashok Giri from Ballia. During questioning, they revealed that they got the ganja from Rupra Road in Odisha and were planning to take it to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
The RPF suspects that these men have been involved in similar activities before, moving ganja through Tata Nagar to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. However, they claimed this was their first time in such a business. The estimated value of the seized ganja is around 20 lakh rupees.
It appears the suspects arrived in Jamshedpur from Odisha and were preparing to board a train to Uttar Pradesh. The RPF noticed them on the platform and, after a search based on suspicion, found the ganja in their possession. Officials are now looking into how extensive their smuggling network is.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at Tata Nagar. Earlier in November, another smuggler was caught with about 17 kilograms of ganja, valued at approximately eight lakh rupees. That person was from Palamu and was sent to jail.
