**Three Children Being Treated on the Same Bed**
In the Ramouli village of the Hayaghat police station area in Darbhanga district, Bihar, five children suffered burns due to a fire erupting from the stove during a wedding ceremony. The injured children were admitted to the DMCH for treatment. Doctors treating the children at the DMCH stated that the children have suffered burns ranging from 15 to 20 percent.
**Accident Due to Gas Leak**
The incident occurred during the wedding ceremony of Nirmal Kumar, the son of Ram Shankar Yadav in Bangi Ramouli village. The gas leak caused flames to erupt suddenly from the stove where food was being prepared. As a result, Santoshi Kumari (10), Abhishek Kumar (06), Jyoti Kumari (08), Sampat Kumar (04), and Nandini Kumari (10) suffered burns. Nandini received treatment locally, while the other four were being treated at the DMCH.
**Treatment of Three Children on the Same Bed**
The children who suffered burns were treated in the emergency surgical examination room of the DMCH. Dressings were done on the burns of the innocent children, who cried loudly during the procedure. They were then shifted to the Central Casualty Ward, where all five children shared three beds due to overcrowding. The slow speed of the two fans in the room caused discomfort to the patients and their relatives.
**Lack of Burn Department at DMCH**
It is concerning that the DMCH does not have a burn department or specialist doctors for treating burn victims. As a result, patients with burns are treated in the surgical department along with other patients. Specialists believe that burn victims are at a higher risk of infection, so their treatment should be done in a climate-controlled environment.
