Tractor carrying pilgrims overturns in Nepal

A tractor filled with pilgrims overturned in a canal near Sita Madhi in Nepal on Sunday. The incident resulted in the death of a female pilgrim and left 4 others injured, including children. Chaos ensued at the scene of the accident as locals rushed to save the rural women, men, and children in the vicinity.

Woman pilgrim dies in the accident

Kishan Sah, a local resident, revealed that the injured included a 54-year-old female pilgrim named Pathi Devi from Chakarghatta village in Palika Panchayat. Unfortunately, Pathi Devi passed away during treatment at a hospital in Birgunj. The four injured individuals, including 26-year-old Shanti Devi, 9-year-old daughter Sushmita, 40-year-old Geeta Devi, and 11-year-old daughter Anshu Kumari, were all sent to Malangwa Hospital for treatment.

Rescue operation and cause of the accident

With the help of the local authorities, the tractor submerged in the canal was successfully removed. It was reported that on Sunday, 25 pilgrims were returning from Baba Mankeshwar Nath Dham in Madhia, Sonbarsa block, after a holy water ceremony when the tractor lost balance and overturned into the Bagmati River canal. The incident caused a commotion in the area, leading to the tragic death of Pathi Devi and injuries to several others.
