What’s inside:

This article informs about the upcoming increase in train fares from Bihar to major cities like Delhi and Mumbai starting December 26, 2025.

Train travel is about to get more expensive for passengers traveling from Bihar. Starting from December 26, 2025, the railway has announced a fare hike that will affect routes from cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur to major destinations such as Delhi and Mumbai.

The fare increase ranges from ₹10 to ₹50 across different trains. This means that passengers will need to spend a little more when booking tickets for long-distance journeys. Popular trains like Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and others will have their fares raised.

For instance, if you are traveling from Bhagalpur to Delhi, the fare will go up by ₹25. Other routes, such as Bhagalpur to Mumbai, will see a rise in fares from ₹460 to ₹479 in general class, and from ₹2040 to ₹2068 in third AC class. Tickets booked before this date will not be charged the higher fares.

Passengers traveling from Patna to Delhi will pay ₹20 more, while a trip to Bengaluru will cost ₹54 extra. The fare for the third AC class on the Tejas Rajdhani will increase from ₹2395 to ₹2415. Similarly, for Patna to Mumbai, the sleeper class fare will increase from ₹730 to ₹764.

Overall, these changes mean travelers need to prepare for higher costs on their train journeys. Local trains and monthly season tickets will not see any fare increase, making them a stable option for daily commuters.

Summary:

  • Train fares from Bihar to major cities will increase starting December 26, 2025.

  • Fare hikes range from ₹10 to ₹50 for long-distance travel.

  • Passengers who booked tickets prior to the increase won’t pay the new rates.

  • Local train fares and monthly tickets will remain unchanged.

  • Travelers need to adjust their budgets for upcoming journeys.
