Inspection of School Buses in Gopalganj District

The transportation department in Gopalganj district conducted an inspection of all school buses in accordance with the directions of the district magistrate. The inspection was carried out at 22 different points. It was found during the inspection that many school buses were not adhering to the regulations. Some of the violations included the absence of fitness certificates for the buses, drivers without licenses, lack of seat belts in the buses, absence of first aid kits, absence of CCTV cameras in the buses, absence of fire extinguishing devices, and overcrowding of children in the buses.

Reason for Inspection

The inspection was prompted by the presence of an overbridge near Banjari Mode on NH-27. This location has been a cause for concern as it poses a potential risk for accidents. The inspection aimed to ensure that the school buses operating in the area were following all safety regulations and taking necessary precautions to protect the children.

Violation of Safety Regulations

The inspection revealed several violations of safety regulations in the school buses. These violations included the absence of necessary documents and equipment such as fitness certificates, driver licenses, seat belts, first aid kits, CCTV cameras, and fire extinguishing devices. Additionally, some buses were found to be overcrowded, which further increased the risk to the children’s safety.

The findings of the inspection highlight the need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations in school buses. The transportation department will take appropriate action against the violators and ensure that necessary measures are implemented to improve the safety standards of school buses in Gopalganj district.
