Tragic Accident in Purnia
An accident in Purnia on Saturday evening at 5 pm, where a speeding truck collided with a bike carrying 3 people, resulting in a severe impact. The truck dragged all three victims for nearly 100 meters after the accident. The bike was carrying a couple and their son. The husband and wife were rushed to the hospital for treatment on Sunday morning.
Outcry and Police Intervention
As soon as news of the tragic accident reached the relatives, chaos ensued. The police arrived at the scene promptly upon receiving the information. The bodies were taken to GMCH Purnia for postmortem. The deceased were identified as Laloo Urawan (72), Parvati Devi (65), and their son Sylvester Urawan (23) from Jheel Tola area in the jurisdiction of Nagar Thana.
Details of the Accident
Local representative Jitendra Urawan provided details of the accident, stating that the family was traveling from their home in Jheel Tola to a relative’s house in Kasba when the speeding truck lost control and collided with their bike near Mahamaya Temple in the Sadar Thana area of Purnia City. The truck dragged the couple and their son for about 100 meters after the collision.
Police Investigation and Hospital Admittance
After the accident, the injured were admitted to a private hospital in the city for treatment. Unfortunately, the couple succumbed to their injuries, while their son remains in critical condition. The bodies were taken to GMCH Purnia for postmortem. The police are investigating the incident, and the truck driver has been handed over to the authorities for further action.
