Tragedy in Bihar: Two Men Die While Opening Septic Tank
An unfortunate incident occurred in Mirjafari, under the Khariak police station area in Bhagalpur district, Bihar. While opening the septic tank at the home of Mohd Shabbir Ansari, two men, Kamdev Mandal (25) from Usmanpur and Sajid (22) from Mirjafari, lost their lives. Ashok Sharma, who tried to rescue them, also fainted and had to be pulled out of the tank. The bodies have been handed over to the families after post-mortem.
Accident while Opening Septic Tank
According to reports, Kamdev Mandal entered the septic tank to open the centering and fainted, falling inside. Seeing this, his companion Sajid also entered to save him but ended up losing consciousness and both met their demise inside the tank. After their fall, Ashok Sharma entered the tank in an attempt to help but he too fainted and had to be rescued by onlookers.
Chaos Ensues After the Incident
Following the tragic incident, chaos erupted and a crowd gathered at the site. The local police arrived and with the help of villagers, retrieved the bodies from the tank and sent them to the Navgachia sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem. It is reported that due to lack of sufficient oxygen inside the tank, both laborers suffocated to death.
Demands for Compensation from Villagers
The deceased individuals were said to be from poor families. The villagers are demanding appropriate compensation for the families of the deceased. Kamdev Mandal’s father had passed away a year ago and Kamdev was earning a living through labor work. The head of Usmanpur village, Ganesh Mandal, has informed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) about the incident and the CEO has assured assistance to the affected families. The bodies have been handed over to the families after post-mortem.
