Unique Traditions of India
India’s diverse culture sets it apart from the rest of the world. Each state has its own unique traditions, from beliefs to food and clothing. The lifestyle of people varies significantly, which is why songs like ‘Desh Rangila-Rangila’ are so popular in the country. When it comes to customs and traditions, there are many stories related to daughters that can be heard. One such unique tradition from Darbhanga in Bihar is about to be explained.
Planting Trees on the Birth of a Daughter
In the past, families used to be sad at the birth of daughters, but times have changed. Now, in Darbhanga, people in the Gangwar Mohalle plant 101 fruit-bearing trees to celebrate the birth of a daughter. This tradition is now being carried out throughout the entire village to promote awareness about gender equality and nature conservation.
Other Unique Birth Traditions in India
Apart from Darbhanga, other villages in India also have unique birth traditions. In Pipalantree village in Rajasthan, 111 trees are planted on the birth of a daughter. Similarly, in Dharhara village in Bihar, 10 plants are planted, and in Pyukar village in Himachal Pradesh, a festival called Gochi Utsav is celebrated to honor the birth of daughters. These traditions showcase the rich cultural diversity of India.
