This article covers the celebrations and challenges faced during the Vijayadashami festival in Bihar, particularly in Patna and Munger.

This Vijayadashami, a festival celebrating the victory of good over evil, was celebrated widely in Bihar. In Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, despite all preparations, heavy rain disrupted the grand event of burning the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad. The rain was so intense that it caused the effigies to start melting, and Ravana’s head fell before it could catch fire, leaving many devotees disappointed.

Meanwhile, in Munger, the atmosphere was quite different. The Ravana Dahan event organized by Ramlila Maidan Trust went ahead successfully, even with some light rain. Local officials, including the Commissioner and District Magistrate, were present to oversee the event. Despite the rain, the effigy was erected again, and when the weather cleared, fireworks lit up the sky, and people cheered with slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”.

In the Banka district’s Amarpur city, the Ravana Dahan was also celebrated with great enthusiasm. A massive 40-foot statue of Ravana was set ablaze, filling the air with excitement. The local MLA, Jayant Raj Kushwaha, ignited the fire, lighting up the sky with colorful fireworks. The event drew families and children, creating a fair-like atmosphere that lasted into the night.

In other news, due to the continuous rain, the immersion procession for Badi Durga has been postponed. The temple administration announced that the immersion will now take place at 2 pm on October 3. This change has brought joy to devotees, giving them more time to enjoy the Durga Puja festivities.

As the festival continues, people in Bihar remain hopeful for clearer skies. The celebrations in Munger and Amarpur show that the spirit of Vijayadashami is still alive, despite the challenges faced in Patna.
