Jharkhand Lok Sabha Election 2024: Second Phase Voting Begins

Voting for the Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand began on Monday under the second phase for the year 2024. There was a great enthusiasm among the voters of the state, with many reaching the polling booths as early as 5 AM. The voting is taking place for three seats in Jharkhand in the second phase, along with a by-election for the Gandey assembly seat today. The voting process started at 7 AM, and voters can cast their votes until 5 PM.

Over 6,000 Polling Centers in Jharkhand for Second Phase

More than 6,000 polling centers will be set up for the second phase of voting in Jharkhand. A total of 54 candidates are contesting for the three seats in the state, with 15 candidates from Koderma seat, 17 from Hazaribagh seat, and 22 from Chatra seat. Koderma has the highest number of voters, with over 22 lakh voters, followed by Hazaribagh with over 19 lakh voters, and Chatra with over 16 lakh voters. Stay tuned for live updates on the election.

Technical Glitches Reported in Voting Process

Technical glitches were reported in some polling booths, such as EVM machines malfunctioning in booth number 553 in Koderma Lok Sabha constituency. In Palu Panchayat’s primary school booth number 241, voting started 15 minutes late due to the EVM not functioning. Jharkhand government’s cabinet minister Fagu Besra arrived at the polling center in Ramgarh at 7 AM to cast his vote.
