Boycott of Voting on Jehanabad Lok Sabha Seat
While the administration is running a voter awareness campaign urging people to vote in the Lok Sabha elections, residents of Mokamchak village in the Atari Vidhan Sabha area under the Jehanabad Lok Sabha constituency are boycotting the elections and refusing to vote. The issue is related to the villagers’ access to the polling booths.
Village Road Blocked Causing Inconvenience
A local strongman in the village has illegally occupied the village road, blocking access and forcing the villagers to take a different route. This has caused inconvenience to the 671 voters in the village, who now have to travel a longer distance to reach the polling booth. Despite informing the district administration and leaders, no action has been taken, leading to the villagers deciding to boycott the elections.
No Voter Turnout in the Village
In the community hall of Mokamchak village, a polling booth with 124 booths has been set up. However, due to the lack of road and school in the area, not a single voter has turned up to cast their vote, resulting in zero voter turnout in the village.
Officials Return Amid Villagers’ Anger
Upon receiving information about the boycott of voting, senior officials from the district administration and police administration visited the polling center. Despite their efforts to convince the villagers to vote, the residents remained adamant. In response to the villagers’ anger, all officials had to leave the village.
