RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav made a significant statement regarding the ongoing caste census in Bihar during the inauguration of the book “Cast Pride” by Manoj Mitta at the Bihar Chamber of Commerce Auditorium in Patna. Yadav highlighted the historical nuisance caused by the caste system and the mistreatment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, which still persists today. He emphasized the importance of slowing down these injustices.

Lalu Prasad Yadav targets the central government

While releasing the book, Yadav also criticized the central government’s approach towards caste. He claimed that the government gets upset whenever the topic of caste is mentioned, as it hinders their functioning. Yadav stated that conducting a caste census is crucial in the present time, but the government is opposing it. The Attorney General has even challenged the caste enumeration in court.

The need for caste information in planning

Yadav questioned how plans can be made without knowing the caste and economic conditions of the people. He asserted that it is their right to have access to this information, as it helps in formulating effective policies. Yadav referred to the Mandal Commission and the ongoing fight for the rights of marginalized communities. He emphasized the importance of continuous struggle and warned against complacency.
