The first week of May has come to an end, marking the peak of the pre-monsoon season. During this month, strong winds, thunderous clouds, and a higher chance of lightning are common. However, the current weather pattern indicates a break in the rainy season, with the wind direction slowly changing from humid easterly to dry northwesterly winds.
Weather forecast for the upcoming days
According to SK Patel, a scientist at the Patna Meteorological Center, the weather is expected to remain dry and hot in the coming days, with temperatures ranging between 40°C to 45°C. Yellow alerts have been issued for 12 districts in Bihar, where hot and dry conditions are likely to prevail. These districts include West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Bhojpur, Buxar, Arwal, Bhabua, Rohtas, Aurangabad, and Gaya.
Record-breaking temperatures in Bihar
On May 15, maximum temperatures exceeding 40°C were recorded in 18 districts of Bihar. The highest temperature was recorded in Sheikhpura at 43.3°C, followed by Bhojpur at 42.9°C, Arwal at 42.7°C, Buxar at 42.6°C, Aurangabad at 42.5°C, and Nawada at 42.4°C. The heatwave began in the southwest region and is expected to gradually spread across Bihar, leading to the onset of heatstroke once the humidity decreases.
