Jagran correspondent, Patna:

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for light rain and thunderclap in Bihar, including the capital city of Patna, for the next four days. Southern parts of the state, including Patna, are expected to experience light rain, lightning, and thunder on Thursday, while the weather in northern parts will remain pleasant. A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rains in Kaimur and Rohtas districts on September 8. In the last 24 hours, some areas in Bihar, including Patna, experienced drizzle and light rain due to favorable monsoon conditions. Ghat Kusumba in Sheikhpura received the highest rainfall of 71.2 mm, while Patna recorded 4.9 mm of rainfall. Sitamarhi recorded the highest maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Clouds remained in the districts including the capital

On Wednesday, many districts, including Patna, experienced pleasant weather throughout the day. There was drizzle in the morning and cloudy skies in the afternoon. Buxar witnessed rain accompanied by strong winds in the morning. Similar weather conditions were observed in other districts like Ara, Bhabua, and Gaya.

According to the Meteorological Center, the monsoon trough is active from Bikaner, Guna, Mandla, Raipur towards the southeast till the Bay of West Central Bengal. Bihar received a total of 597.9 mm of rainfall during the monsoon season, which is 27% less than the normal average.

In August, most southern districts of Bihar experienced weak monsoon activity, resulting in below-normal rainfall. Districts like Arwal, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Buxar, Gaya, Jehanabad, Jamui, Kishanganj, and Rohtas received less rainfall than usual. Agriculture in these districts has been adversely affected due to the insufficient rainfall. However, some areas like Araria also recorded significantly lower rainfall compared to normal. The lack of strong monsoon effects has resulted in a decrease in overall rainfall.
