Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a positive forecast in its latest prediction. According to IMD, the weather conditions in North-West India will remain stable for the next two days, but after that, there may be a 2-degree increase in minimum temperatures. Similarly, there is no significant change expected in the minimum temperatures in Eastern India for the next two days, but a decrease of 2-3 degrees Celsius is possible thereafter. The rest of the country is not likely to see any major changes in minimum temperatures during the next five days.
Weather conditions in the next 24 hours:
According to IMD, there is a possibility of light rain in some parts of West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand. Similarly, there may be light rain in Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, South Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Serious cold wave conditions may occur in Bihar, some parts of Western Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. The cold wave conditions may also persist in Uttarakhand, Western Rajasthan, and Northern Madhya Pradesh.
Intense cold wave in Punjab and Haryana:
Intense cold wave conditions are prevailing in many parts of Punjab. Similarly, Punjab, Haryana, Western Rajasthan, and some parts of Bihar may experience dense fog. Dense fog is also possible in Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Assam.
Cold wave intensifies in Kashmir:
There has been a drop in minimum temperatures in most places in Kashmir, and after a day’s relief, cold wave conditions have returned. Officials have reported that the minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 4.6 degrees Celsius below freezing, which is 2.4 degrees Celsius lower than the previous night. The temperature in Kargil dropped 4.2 degrees Celsius below freezing, while Gulmarg Ski Resort in North Kashmir recorded a temperature 4.5 degrees Celsius below freezing. In South Kashmir, Pahalgam in Anantnag district recorded a minimum temperature 5.8 degrees Celsius below freezing.
Intense cold wave in Punjab and Haryana:
Intense cold wave conditions are prevailing in Punjab and Haryana. The minimum temperatures in most parts of the states remained below average on Thursday. Punjab and Haryana are experiencing severe cold and dense fog in many places, including Amritsar, Patiala, and Mohali. According to a report from the weather department, the minimum temperature in Patiala was recorded at 3.1 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees Celsius below average. Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana recorded a minimum temperature of 4.6 degrees Celsius.
Rajasthan hit by intense cold wave:
Several areas in Rajasthan are experiencing intense cold due to the impact of cold easterly winds. In the last 24 hours, “extremely cold day” was recorded in Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, and Pilani. According to the weather department, Ganganagar recorded a maximum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which is 11.7 degrees Celsius below average. In the last 24 hours, Pilani recorded a minimum temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius, Alwar 5.5 degrees Celsius, Jaipur 5.8 degrees Celsius, Ganganagar 5.7 degrees Celsius, and Sirohi, Churu, and Jaisalmer recorded 6.1 degrees Celsius.
