Introduction

The arrival of summer in India means the onset of the jamun season in the markets. Jamun, known for its various health benefits, is a favorite among people. While traditionally only the black variety of jamun was available in the markets, now the people of Bihar will also get to taste the white Thai jamun, thanks to the efforts of farmer Ram Kishore Singh in Muzaffarpur.

Cultivation of White Thai Jamun

Ram Kishore Singh, a farmer from Muzaffarpur, shared that he imported a white Thai jamun plant from West Bengal in 2019. Over the past three years, the plant has grown and started bearing fruit last year. This year, Singh is preparing to sell the fruit in the market and has been approached by several farmers interested in cultivating white jamun. He has been providing them with information on cultivation techniques to help them benefit from this new variety.

Availability and Benefits

Interested farmers can purchase the white Thai jamun plant from Ram Kishore Singh’s nursery by placing an order. Singh aims to make this variety more accessible to others and highlight its numerous benefits. White jamun, rich in nutrients, helps in keeping the body hydrated and cool during the summer, prevents heat strokes, and also aids in managing serious health conditions like diabetes, heart problems, and digestive issues. Its unique properties make it a valuable addition to the market and a popular choice among consumers.
