Woman killed in road accident in Siwan
A woman has died in a road accident in Siwan. The incident took place in the Nathnpura village of the G.B. Nagar police station area of the district. The deceased, Nutan Devi, was the wife of Ram-Lakhan from Nathnpura village. Relatives said that Nutan had gone out of the house towards the fields to relieve herself. While crossing the road, she was hit by a speeding uncontrolled pickup truck. The woman died on the spot.
Locals nabbed the driver
Immediately after the incident, villagers chased and caught the driver of the pickup truck. In protest against the incident, people placed the body on the road and staged a demonstration. Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene, cleared the roadblock, and sent the body for postmortem to the Siwan Sadar Hospital.
Demand for compensation
Local residents have demanded compensation for the affected family from the administration. The station in-charge, Akhilesh Prasad, informed that the police have taken the statement of the victim’s family. Further action will be taken based on the family’s application. The body is currently undergoing postmortem, and compensation will be provided to the affected family after the application is processed.
