Gadwa: A young man named Ujjwal Yadav, originally from Sonpurwa in Chhattisgarh, has drowned in the Kanhar River in Gadwa, Jharkhand. Ujjwal, who was approximately 20 years old, was the youngest son of his family. Despite 24 hours having passed since the incident, his body has not been found yet.
The Incident: On Sunday, a group of people, including Amit Keshari, the manager of the Gandhi Enterprises medicine shop, and his seven staff members, went for a picnic in Gadwa. Around 2 pm, they decided to take a dip in the Kanhar River. It was during this time that Ujjwal slipped and began to drown in the deeper part of the river. Raj Singh, his companion, also jumped in to save him but was unable to swim. Local residents who had arrived for the picnic immediately rushed to the scene and pulled Raj Singh out of the water, but they were unable to save Ujjwal.
Search Operation: The incident was reported to the army’s divers team around two and a half hours after the drowning. At around 4:30 pm, the divers reached the spot, but unfortunately, they were unable to locate Ujjwal’s body. Despite previous incidents of drowning in the same location, no safety warning boards have been installed by the authorities at the Kanhar River in Palatan Ghat. The search for Ujjwal’s body is still ongoing.
