Bridge over Ganga River Approved: The central cabinet has given approval for the construction of a 4.56 km long bridge over the Ganga River. The project, with a total cost of 3,064.45 crore rupees, will connect the districts of Digha and Sonpur in Bihar. The bridge will have six lanes and will provide faster and easier transportation, especially benefiting the development of Uttar Bihar.

Benefits for the Population: The new bridge will provide uninterrupted connectivity between the northern and southern parts of Bihar, benefiting a large population. Currently, the areas are only connected by railway and road bridges, which are not suitable for heavy transportation. Once completed, the new bridge will facilitate the transportation of goods and materials, thereby boosting the economic capacity of the region.

Use of High-Tech Techniques: The construction of the bridge will utilize advanced technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Bridge Health Monitoring System (BHMS), and monthly drone mapping to ensure quality and efficient operations. These modern techniques will be implemented under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model.

Connectivity and Economic Development: The bridge will connect Patna to Aurangabad and Sonpur (NH-31), Chapra and Motihari (Old NH-27), and Betiya (NH-727). It will provide a direct connectivity corridor and serve as a part of the Buddha Circuit. The project is expected to be completed within 42 months from the allocation date.
