Bullet Train Update: Land Acquisition Work Complete
The entire country is eagerly awaiting the bullet train. The government has been providing periodic updates on the progress of the bullet train. The first bullet train will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. More than 90% of the track for the bullet train will be elevated or on bridges. Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has provided fresh information about the project, stating that the land acquisition work for the bullet train project is 100% complete.
Significance of Land Acquisition Completion
The land acquisition process had been pending for quite some time. The completion of land acquisition is a significant milestone for the project. In addition to this, 274.12 km of pillars have been installed for laying the tracks of the bullet train. Furthermore, guarders have been installed along these pillars for a distance of 127.72 km. Guarders are pre-constructed platforms made of cement or iron plates on which the railway tracks are laid.
First Route to Cover 508 km
The bullet train will initially run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, covering a distance of 508 km. The trial run between Bilimora and Surat will start in 2026. In Gujarat, this route will span 352 km, passing through 9 districts. In Maharashtra, it will cover a length of 156 km, crossing 3 districts and a 4 km-long underground section in the city of Haveli. There will be 12 stations along this corridor. The bullet train is designed to operate at a speed of 320 km/h, with provisions for a future upgrade to 350 km/h. It will take just 2 hours to travel from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
Bullet Train to Operate on 6 More Routes
After the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, two more bullet trains will be introduced on other routes. These routes include Delhi-Amritsar, Howrah-Varanasi-Patna, Delhi-Agra-Lucknow-Varanasi, Delhi-Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahmedabad, Mumbai-Nashik-Nagpur, and Mumbai-Hyderabad corridors. Feasibility reports have already been prepared for all these routes. The first routes to be implemented are Howrah-Varanasi and Delhi-Amritsar.
