Delhi-Katra Green Field Expressway: Construction work on the Delhi-Katra Green Field Expressway, part of the Bharatmala project, is progressing rapidly. It is claimed that 75% of the work on Package 1 and Package 2, starting from the village of Nilothi in Bahadurgarh, has been completed. The plan is to open it by March 2024, with vehicles expected to be running on the expressway within four months. The completion of the project in Jammu is expected by March 2024 and in Katra by June 2025.
Foreign-style features on the expressway: Officials claim that the expressway will have facilities resembling those found in foreign countries. These include food outlets, vehicle maintenance centers, petrol pumps, and restrooms equipped with CNG (compressed natural gas) and EV (electric vehicle) charging facilities.
Emergency assistance: Ambulances, fire brigades, trauma centers, and traffic police teams will be stationed on the expressway 24/7 to provide emergency assistance. Three such facilities are being set up in Sonipat, including one near Rukhi, one in Nurnakhera, and one in Chhavdi village.
Project cost and length: The project cost amounts to INR 39,000 crores and spans a total length of 670 kilometers, divided into 21 packages. Construction for five of these packages is being carried out in Haryana. The main expressway is 570 kilometers long, with the Greenfield Expressway from Nilothi to Gurudaspur spanning 397.712 kilometers and the Brownfield Expressway from Gurudaspur to Katra spanning 122.288 kilometers.
Benefits: The expressway will enable a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, allowing travelers to reach Katra in just six hours. It will also reduce traffic pressure on NH-44 from Sonipat to Delhi. Additionally, it will provide new routes connecting Chandigarh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. Sonipat will have connectivity to the expressway at five locations.

Toll booths will be set up near Hasanpur village, located 8 kilometers from Nilothi village, on the road starting from Nilothi village to KMP.
