DFCCIL has completed the construction of a corridor from Sahnewal to Pilkhani under the Ambala Division. The project started in July 2016 and was completed in 2005, receiving approval in 2006. The construction included the preparation of three railway sections. Soon, freight trains will be seen running on the railway track from Pilkhani to Sahnewal.
Travel will now be easier than before. On Tuesday, the Dedicated Freight Corridor and the security team inspected the entire railway area and successfully operated the freight train, completing a journey of approximately 175 kilometers in just 4 hours. Previously, it took more than 6 hours for freight trains to travel in this area. DFCCIL has been operating empty freight trains in the region for the past 10 days.
There will be no disruptions in the movement of freight trains. Any technical issues that were found during this process have been resolved. DFCCIL officials are pleased with this achievement. With a separate line for freight trains, the operation of mail express trains will not be affected. Passengers will now be able to reach their destinations without any interruptions. The initial cost of the new railway line laid by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India was estimated at 3,000 crores, but it later exceeded 5,000 crores.
