Construction of Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) near Delhi Airport
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has prepared for the construction of an Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) near Indira Gandhi International Airport. The ISBT will have facilities such as a food court, EV charging stations, and other amenities. It will provide buses for every state and dedicated stands or parking areas for buses arriving at the airport. The proposal is currently being reviewed by the Delhi government’s transport department.
Development of ISBT for Improved Travel Convenience
The ISBT is being developed as a new facility for the operation of inter-stage luxury buses, aiming to enhance the convenience of travelers. The ISBT and the nearby Aero City Metro Station on the Phase-4 line will provide significant convenience for travelers coming from other states.
Permission Sought from Delhi Transport Department
DIAL has requested permission from the Delhi Transport Department to develop and operate the ISBT. The development of facilities will be carried out through the transport department’s guidance or through a designated person. The funding for the development of amenities will be provided by the cost recovery mechanism.
Benefits for Travelers from Other States
The construction of ISBT will greatly benefit travelers commuting to and from the airport. Currently, after landing at IGI Airport, travelers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, or Uttarakhand have to take taxis or cabs, incurring significant expenses. With the completion of ISBT, private luxury and government buses will operate daily for these states, directly transporting travelers to the airport. This will eliminate the need for expensive transportation options.
